Recently, someone asked me if I hoped my son would be tolerated as he got older. No, I wouldn’t wish that for anyone. Who wants to be tolerated? My wish for him is the same as it is for any child. To grow up happy, loved, accepted and appreciated.

Ignorance just pisses me off. How would this person feel if they were asked the same question about their child?
Apparently we need to educate until the word Tolerate is no longer used in same sentence as Autism.
That’s great. I know there’s ongoing controversy about Autism Speaks but for me, it isn’t about one organization or another. It’s first about education and awareness!

This is something that touches me deep too as my daughter’s best friend has aspergers. He is kind and sweet to her but often rubs people wrong.
